Using Twitter To Enhance Your Selling Skills

If you think Twitter is only for kids and letting others know what you’re having for breakfast, think again.  I’m using it pretty much daily to identify text, audio and video that directly contribute to improving my sales and business knowledge and skills.

Here’s how:

  • If you haven’t already, set up your basic Twitter account
  • “Follow” this “starter set” of folks who habitually share links to good sales and business content:
    • @toddschnick
    • @stonepayton
    • @howerick
    • @iannarino
    • @paulcastain
    • @bobburg
    • @youngbloodtodd
  • Download Tweetdeck & set up a column called “Knowledge” or whatever you want to call your feed for self-improvement
  • Add the above @whomevers to that column
  • Check the tweets from these folks in Tweetdeck – what you’ll find in the tweets are links to valuable content (& the occasional bit of humor or interesting trivia)
  • Learn from that content!!!
  • Learn from that content!!!
  • Learn from that content!!!
  • Add and delete @whomevers to tune the nature of content you value and want
  • When you find a good @whomever, tweet me at @youngbloodtodd so I can learn more too
  • If you find a blog you really like from the tweets, link its RSS feed to your RSS Reader (more on RSS as a learning tool here)

This is the most efficient way I’ve ever found to identify sources of good, strong, valuable information, knowledge and insight.

    Great Advice — and so true. There’s a ton of good content out there . . . and twitter really does make it easy to wade through very quickly, get what you need, and move on.

    Between my RSS feed and Twitter, there is a wealth of knowledge that is second to none.

    Stunning is the only word to describe how many people don’t take advantage of it…
