It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure out that what we think about, how we think, what we do and how we do it are profoundly influenced by those who surround us in daily life. Surround yourself with thoughtful winners, and you start thinking and winning more. Surround yourself with avid golfers and your game starts improving. Surround yourself with driven, successful business-people and you become more dedicated and successful.
Surround yourself with lunk-heads and you become a lunk-head.
(Or to reiterate the old saying… It’s really, really tough to soar like an eagle when you work with a bunch of turkeys!)
I think it’s important to consider both the positive and negative examples noted above. The positive ones can be downright inspirational, but some may dismiss them for the happy-speak of a “rainbows and unicorns” outlook. The negative ones sure hit home though, don’t they?
Spending big chunks of time with lunk-heads inevitably and relentlessly drags you toward lunk-head-hood.
Who are you hanging out with?
